Soy protein is one of the most promising proteins derived from the vegetable kingdom for tissue engineering applications due to its low cost, tailorable biodegradability, non-animal origin with low immunogenicity and because it is structurally similar to components of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of tissues [1]. In this study soy protein based hydrogel scaffolds are being fabricated by blending soy protein with other natural polymers and using freeze drying technique. Afterwards these hybrid scaffolds will be coated with bioactive inorganic particles to improve the mechanical stability and the bioactivity.
