This project will investigate the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique to produce a new generation of bioactive coatings with antibacterial capability. Both direct current (DC) and alternative current (AC) EPD will be investigated [1]. The coatings will be based on combination of biocompatible polymers incorporating inorganic (nano)particles and therapeutic drugs. Coatings for orthopedic and vascular applications will be produced and characterised in terms of microstructure, surface and mechanical properties, degradability and biological performance.
